Ezekiel 28:11-19
God is the source of human blessings. Both physical and spiritual blessings. Humans simply could not boast that he could get his own things. Wasting God’s blessing means that we refuse to acknowledge God as the giver of the blessing, and acting according to his own desires were deemed correct.
If Tyre can stand on their own stately and rich, it’s because God blessed them. God gave to Tyre, a remarkable king. King of Tyre was the picture of perfection and wisdom (12, 15). He entrusted the power that comes from God (14) with the full perfection (13). There’s no reason for the King of Tyre to elevate himself as if he was so well known cause of Tyre. Unfortunately the King of Tyre a waste of power and trust of these gods with his arrogant attitude as if he was the source of true power. As a result, he was cheating (15), violent (16), smug (17), and violate the holiness of God (18).
God’s wrath fell upon the King of Tyre, God dropped from a high position to the lowest place. He is no longer ruled from the mountain of God and Cherubim who guard will destroy (16). Wisdom destroyed and he was humiliated in front of the kings of the world (17). God burn the king of Tyre and its power to disappear no trace (18). All the rulers and the king was surprised to see this (19).
There is the view that says, this is talking about the fall of Satan. Formerly the devil is God’s most perfect angel, but because of his pride, he dropped to the ground. Whatever the correct interpretation, teaches us that the same arrogance by refusing to even waste the blessings of God. God will show who the real sovereign. So should we also do not wait until must be dropped from his current position. And let’s jointly acknowledged him as the source of our blessings.
